“What the hell is that?” Those words came from my friend Lily, when we went to an art exhibition and were standing in front of a tiny soap box lying in the glass case, which looks completely the same as the soap box we use today.

“I don’t know,” I answered her, as I was confusing as well.

Actually in the late 20th century, there was a similar artwork called < Brillo Boxes >, being put in an art display by a well-known artist named Andy Warhol. It soon triggered a heated discussion about the definition of art. Later on, a new word – “pop art” was born, and it also opened a new era of modern art.

However those new arts do not aim to give you a peaceful, pleasant experience like classic arts. Mostly they want you to be shocked, to feel something new. As a result, some of the artworks seemed entirely “ridiculous”. Here we got some examples.

If you are not an art student, you probably know little about Piero Manzoni, an Italian artist. He put his excrement into 90 cans, numbered them, and sold them as artworks. In 2007, No.18 can was sold at 124,000 euros in Sotheby’s auction (an art auction house in London), this price was as expensive as gold. This “artwork” called “Artist’s Shit”, at the same time he made another one called “Artist’s Breath” which is actually a balloon full of his breath. So the next problem would be: how to identify whether an artwork is worthy of appreciation or not? The answer is: Take it easy. Appreciate what you like and forget about others. Rembrandt Van Rijn, one of the greatest artists of all time. He has been called “the painter of the soul.” It is the spiritual quality of his work that has contributed to his fame. The work is a mark of respect to the virtue of clemency, and to the love of a father for his son. The story is one of the parables of Christ that describes a father who divides his fortune between his two sons. The good stays at home and saves his money, leading a respectable life. The bad son, by contrast, wastes his inheritance on the pursuit of morally wrong activities, reduced to a state even worse than his father’s servants. In poverty and despair, the prodigal comes home in a state of humility and remorse to be forgiven by his aged father. The story is also a metaphor of the love of God for his children, and Rembrandt’s painting, more than a simple illustration of the story, creates an image of this spiritual love, It goes beyond the works of all other Baroque artists in the evocation of religious mood and them, which may be a commissioned portrait of a couple in the guise of a biblical pair.
As early as 1650s, Rembrandt’s colors became richer and brush strokes more exposed, The end result was a richly varied handling of paint and deeply layered colors. Then，someone suggested Butch Vig as a potential producer，whose work this band particularly liked, and told him “We want to sound as heavy as previous records.” As recording sessions for the album were completed, the leader of the band，Cobain grew tired of the title and suggested that the new album be named ‘Nevermind’，which Cobain thought was a metaphor for his attitude on life and was grammatically incorrect　as to be catchy．After that, a legendary record came into being，　and this band was none other than Nirvana．

Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990. Despite releasing only three full-length studio albums in their seven-year career, Nirvana has come to be regarded as one of the most influential and important rock bands of the modern era.　

There has been a story widely spread since the beginning. As the story unfolds, Nirvana’s last recorded song which had languished undiscovered among unfinished works by the band captures the Seattle trio in a ‘grungier’ and ‘screamier’ mood than their previous final singles, according to the song’s producer. Producer Adam Kasper, who worked on the recording with the pioneer grunge-rock band, said the song with the working title Know Your Rights is ‘a little bit grungier and a little screamier over the chorus’ than Heart-Shaped Box, from In Utero, the final studio release from the band considered one of the most influential groups of the past decade. The cut was completed several months before singer Kurt Cobain’s April 1994 suicide. It’s likely the only finished, unreleased studio track from the band, Kasper said. ‘Know Your Rights is a pretty cool tune almost a Heart-Shaped Box kind of approach,’ Kasper said Friday. ‘It’s not Smells Like Teen Spirit or anything,’ he added, referring to the Nirvana song that became the anthem for the grunge generation, ‘but it’s a nice one to hear.’ Kasper said that Know Your Rights got that working title because that was the phrase Cobain sang in the chorus. Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl said that the final song Nirvana recorded would be included in an upcoming box set. Though Grohl did not name the song, Kasper said it was likely that he was referring to Know Your Rights. Kasper produced the Foo Fighters’ upcoming third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose.

First, super-power, the most important aspect of being a super hero. They have super power to save people from danger, so, without that opportunity to be bitten by a mutant spider, what can you do? Well, it could be very easy. Go to a hospital and get yourself a doctor friend, beg him to take you to the pharmacy store and wander around, pretend you don’t care and pick up some drug with complicated instructions that you can’t understand a single word, watch how your friend respond, nervous? Great! Drink it with no hesitation! Can you feel the pain? That the feeling of super power. Still can’t spin? Don’t worry, you will discover your power at some point as you probably don’t know what it is yet.

Secondly, name and uniform. Oh, that’s the hard part, just take your time and find your name, as for a uniform, online shopping? Come on! You are a super hero, not some creepy transvestite! It’s a way you can show off without using your super power! The key is special. Remember the “stars and stripes” uniform that Captain American wore? So shiny, even at night, still no enemy can find him, which is the power of uniform. So, the one and only uniform for you, I’m thinking, DIY, secret and special, what do you think?

Third, use your instinct and smell the crime. Here comes your stage, where there is a crime, there is a super hero. Listening to police broadcasts is good, but that’s illegal, in order to be safer, what about being a policeman yourself? Always be the first one know of a crime, isn’t that great? Or, much easier, what about hiring a criminal yourself? When you want an opportunity to show off in front of the public, make a call, and there is your crime! Little tip, don’t hurt anyone.

Fourth, get rid of your family. Oh, I almost can hear you screaming, “WHAT THE HELL?” I totally understand, your only doing this because you are still normal person, when you become a super hero, you will find being lonely is god damn good! You are the only one who holds the power. And your family? They are still normal people, will be your burden. They want you to go picnic with them, spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with them, how could you waste your time on such meaningless activities? The world is waiting for you to save it!

Number five, I am running out of tips, sorry, because you see… Being a super hero is such a meaningless and low-probability thing. I am not saying that super hero shouldn’t exist, they should, but only in comics and movies, they entertain us and complement our boring normal life, sometimes being a symbol that shows us a certain positive spirit, that’s all. You can still be a super hero without that “awesome” name and ridiculous uniform, join the police or become a doctor, they are the real hero in real world.
