American country music originated in the southern American Appalachian Mountains, can be traced back to the 1920’s. Vernon Dalhart, may have been forgotten by most people, but he is the first big star in this field. He came to country music from outside the tradition, becoming a national star in the years .  He made a great contribution to the American country music.

Dalhart was born in a cow family in the eastern state of Texas Marion TrySlaughter. Though his classical-music background is often emphasized in accounts of his life, he did actually work for a time as a cowboy while in his teens. Dalhart sang at community gatherings, where he also played the harmonica and the jews harp. He studied music at the Dallas Conservatory, married, and moved to New York in 1910. Dreaming of an operatic career, he worked in a music store and earned extra cash singing for funerals. Dalhart was a keen observer of the early power of the phonograph industry and jumped at the chance to record.His first releases, made around 1916, fell into various pop styles.From 1916 to 1923, using numerous pseudonyms, he made over 400 recordings of light classical music and early dance band vocals for various record labels. He was already an established singer when he made his first country music recordings which cemented his place in music history.

When he turned to country music, it may have been simply a way of capitalizing on a song type that his competitors had neglected, but he immediately showed a flair for story songs.  After The Wreck of the Old 97 became a smash hit, Dalhart was a national star of sorts — he was never a really recognizable figure, but he could sell records in the millions.

While some country music purists always viewed Dalhart with some suspicion because of his light opera background and a vocal style that was closer to pop than country, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970, into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1981, and into the Gennett Records Walk of Fame in 2007.

That year, he was 22 years old. He stood on the draft stage with his youth dream. With good singing skills, he won the match. When he received the trophy from his idol, Xueyou Zhang, a very influential big brother in Chinese music circles, he had been dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe all the things happen to him that day. After that, he signed a contract with a large record company. Do you think he would become famous soon or become rich soon? No, no, no… All the things are different, no longer after he signed, the executives has changed. He became a singer that nobody cared about him. He had his own records but with no propaganda, and no activity let him to go. He is a signed singer! But he had to go work only by bike, find activities by himself. He comes from a normal family, his parents are not rich, even much poor. He’s a fealty and sensible boy, he never told his parents about the difficult predicament. He kept all this pressure by himself. Those days, he singing to the wall, but he never changed his mind about singing. Today, he always said that he feel thankful about himself ten years ago, during that period, even it’s too hard , he never give up singing, never give up hope light. All of that makes him achieved his gold today.

Something has changed in his life that year. He decided leave his old company, and join another TV show. He appeared in people’s field again, with many doubt, like “You have already been a champion, why you join this kind of event again? You only want to gain another NO.1?”… All the things are hard for him to keep. But, something bad happen, must with something good. He met his future wife that year. She is lovely, beautiful, and… already famous, and… she is the host of that show. At that time, they just common friends. But, you know, the entertainment reporters are don’t care about that , they just care about their rates, viewing rates. They said he could join that TV show just because his girlfriend’s help. Nobody care about his song, nobody. It’s very sad for a singer! People thought he became famous not by himself but his wife, they said he married his wife just for find an easy way to be fame. Even the program doesn’t give him a right place, at the end of that match . He just thanks, like there’s no hurt. That might be a scene in Shanghai in 1930s of China, since Jazz was incredibly popular during the period of Republican China. But sadly it seems that Jazz was much less popular than other music in China after 1950s. It was quite understandable because Jazz was such an entertainment that could only be enjoyed by the upper class in China in previous decades, and those wealthy people who became the main audience of Jazz at that time was given a name “Old Class”(老克勒).

However, the time of “Old Class” was gone. Fortunately we are now living in a world running on the internet, and Jazz is not hard to reach as before. The sad thing is that the Jazz is usually left in an unnoticed corner in today’s China. Under great pressures of studies, housing, employment etc., we often jump into bed after a long day or kill our time in front of TV until we feel sleepy.

Britpop is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom. Britpop emerged from the British independent music scene of the early 1990s and was characterized by bands influenced by British guitar pop music of the 1960s and 1970s. The movement developed as a reaction against various musical and cultural trends in the late 1980s and early 1990s, particularly the grunge phenomenon from the United States. Britpop groups brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British cultural movement called Cool Britannia. Although, the movement largely fell apart by the end of the decade，its most popular bands like Oasis and Blur were able to spread their commercial success overseas, especially to the United States. The Britpop had kept an everlasting and indisputable impact on the world’s music history with quite a lot those still memorizing them since then.

Over time, Britpop’s canon crystallized. A handful of elite bands (Suede, Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Elastica) transcended the tag, which lost some of its luster after Oasis released the bloated Be Here Now in 1997. Many of the musicians who climbed the charts in the mid-’90s are now essentially unknown to anyone under the age of 30. Some might argue that that’s a good thing, a karmic correction that separated worthy artists from flavors of the month.

Britpop is far from forgotten, and was the soundtrack to many of our youthful heydays. From my perspective, everyone I knew who listened to Britpop had a wide variety of tastes, and often could be found at a club dancing to all those genres he loved so well. But while I loved getting lost in a trance beat as much as anyone, I needed my beautiful melodies as well, and none did smart, catchy pop better. As one of my friend said, the stupid earnestness of most American rock didn’t speak to many of them; they needed some irony to cut the sentimental, some playfulness to balance the morose, and clever lyrics to weigh down the jauntiness.

A great time for music that has not been seen since. From indie band like Autuers and Blur, to electronic and dance acts (Saint Etienne, Chemical Brothers), Britpop was everywhere. Of course with that, bands were born into the scene, and the all-inclusive pool was quickly diluted.

That was the power of Britpop — they had complete control of Britain’s mainstream, and in 1997 they drove it into the ground. Nothing like that happened again in Britain in the wake of Britpop. We’re left with shards in the new millennium, with Radiohead and Bloc Party and Kaiser Chiefs and Editors jostling around together. And that’s before you even get to any other English imports, like Amy Winehouse or Adele. Maybe it is indeed better off this way, to have to navigate the big mess of it. After all, if you listen to all those last great Britpop albums, it sounds like universality took its toll.

Look back to the history of Korean popular music, there are four important periods: the early K-pop, the turning point of k-pop, the birth of the Korean wave, and the global k-pop.

Begin talking about K-pop, we should know some of its history. The history of K-pop music can be traced back to 1885 when an American missionary, Henry Appenzeller started teaching American and British folk songs at a school. At this time, the western music started enter into Korea and started influencing Korean music. From one perspective, this is the originating of K-pop.

At the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s, Korean pop music has a very important change. Because people in this time, unlike their predecessors who had to experience war and Japanese oppression. Additionally, these young musicians were heavily influenced by American culture and lifestyle. So they had a more open and free mind, and their music pay more attention to fun and self entertaining.

Different time has different fashion cycle, for example: in the 1970s, DJs started to become popular, but 10 years later, the era of ballads become more popular. Because of more and more different kinds of music come into vogue in Korea, the k-pop started blooming.

There was a time has to mention. In the 1990s, early Korean pop musicians mixed American popular music styles like rap, rock in their music. The Seo Taiji & Boys brought a true turning point in the history of K-pop. The lyrics of Seo Taiji & Boys dealt with the problems of Korean society, which other entertainers of the era failed to do. And their sound paved the way for the “success format” of K-pop songs. In other hand, the 1990s were also a successful period for underground music clubs, punk rock bands managed to gain mainstream popularity.

In 1995 Korean entrepreneur Lee Soo-man founded South Korea’s largest talent agency and record label, SM Entertainment. By the late 1990s, YG Entertainment, DSP Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and FNC Music had become the most important part of k-pop music market. And SM, YG and JYP often referred to as the “Big Three.”

Towards the turn of the 21st century, the K-pop music began spreading out to other regions of the world as part of the global Korean wave. In 2012, the number of fans in Turkey over 100,000 for the first time, and reached 150,000 in 2013. That year, there were 70 K-pop fan clubs in Mexico, with at least 60,000 members altogether. All this number shows the k-pop music become an indispensable part in present international music market.

To these questions, my answers are absolutely yes. Here are the reasons.

First of all, it is hard for Taylor not to catch people’s eye. As we can see, she has a height of 180cm. Long legs, beautiful face with perfect shape, coupled with fair skin, she is more like a super model than a singer! No wonder she becomes the object of paparazzi every day.

Second, Tyler’s fine character gains her great popularity. For one thing, She is very cheerful and approachable, which makes it pleasant to work with her. For another, she knows very well what she wants from the media. Exposure rates means almost everything for any star. While she is reluctant sometimes, most of the time she has to cooperate with paparazzi. I think both she herself and her team understand the importance of exposure to her. So taking snapshots can be a mutually beneficial thing. We must admit that Taylor’s professional quality is also very high.

Third, Taylor, in common with stars in the cycle, knows that it is impossible to please everyone. Though some readers feel bored with her frequent appearance, she still has a large number of fans who support her and expect a lot from her. With The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug showing, The song I See Fire become popular around the world. Many people in China began to knew this talented singer, Ed sheeran. The interesting thing is lots of Chinese people already heard his song in 2011, but few of them know the song was made by Sheeran. In 2011, Sheeran’s music video Lego House was popular in China, people all liked it and shared it on the Internet. Somehow most of them said “Whoa! Ron turned to a singer now! And his voice is very nice! ”. They believed that this song was made by Rupert Grint, the one who act as Ron Wesley in Harry Potter.

It’s a funny mistake which result from the complicated story in the video. The video’s narrative at first portrays Grint as Sheeran, performing such activities as writing lyrics for the song on a pad of paper, lounging in his tour bus, and ultimately taking the stage for a cheering crowd. However, after Grint takes the stage and is immediately tackled by security, it is slowly revealed that Grint is actually a doppelganger of Sheeran and an obsessive fan, and that the events of the video were actually him stalking the real Ed Sheeran with increasing severity and mental instability (writing the song was actually transcribing the lyrics from the album cover, and lounging in the bus was him breaking into it), ending with Sheeran and Grint meeting as Grint is forcibly removed from a music venue and Sheeran comes out of an elevator.
Besides, Rupert and Sheeran looks so similar to Chinese people. So they strongly believes that this song was made by Rupert. The music video was so popular on the internet. Ironically, they even not know who is the real singer.
But to fans of Taylor Swift, Sheeran ‘s name may be more familiar. He made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s fourth album,Red. And he spent much of 2013 touring North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Red Tour. They are amazing partner and have a great cooperation.

At the 2013 Grammy Awards, The A Team was nominated for Song of the Year. And he performed the song in duet with Elton John during the ceremony. They showed us a perfect cooperation and taken a different The A Team to us. Through the ceremony, more people in China knew Sheeran.
In 2014, Sheeran’s song I See Fire had a great success in China. Till that, much of people started to know him and search his name on google. Then they realized that Lego House was made by Sheeran rather than Rupert Grint. This talented singer-songwriter from British surprising Chinese with his amazing songs. His songs are mixed folk songs, pop , new wave and hip hop beast. It makes his songs so touching. And his voice just like your love whisper to you. No wonder people will like his songs. There is no question that he will become a new super star in the future. We are looking forward to more great songs from him.
